Buskett Woodland

Buskett Woodland

Ambjent Malta plays a key role in the conservation and management of the Buskett Woodlands, one of Malta’s most ecologically and historically significant green spaces. Since its establishment, Ambjent Malta has undertaken various initiatives to preserve the biodiversity and cultural heritage of the area. These include the removal of invasive species, planting of indigenous trees, and the restoration of habitats.

Buskett Education Centre

Notably, Ambjent Malta manages the Buskett Education Centre, which provides environmental education and awareness activities for visitors and students, fostering a deeper appreciation for Malta’s natural heritage. Through these efforts, Ambjent Malta ensures that Buskett remains a thriving ecosystem and a valuable resource for future generations.

The Historical Grotto

The historic Vaulted Grotto in Buskett was built in the mid-17th century by Grandmaster Lascaris. Ambjent Malta restored the internal walls of the cave, repaired the top part of the cave by removing all existing concrete and asphalt and introduced specific beams under the surface of the top part. Furthermore, Ambjent Malta installed a new lighting system in the grotto and the existing fountain was restored so that it can be appreciated by the public.
