Environmental Landscaping

Malta Embellishment Landscaping Projects (MELP) is responsible for monitoring the work carried out by the appointed Landscaping Contractor. MELP conducts inspections and approves the maintenance of landscaped areas, primarily located along arterial and distributary roads, as well as selected public gardens, in accordance with the terms of the Landscaping Contract.

In addition to the overseeing of maintenance works, MELP is entrusted with the evaluation and approval of new landscaping projects, including design proposals for both soft and hard landscaping areas and planting schemes.

MELP also maintains a comprehensive and regularly updated inventory and GIS mapping system. This database includes details such as parcel areas, plant quantities and species, and the defined levels of embellishment, all as stipulated by the Landscaping Contract.
