Education Boat Tours
In collaboration with the Saving Our Blue campaign, Ambjent Malta has been organising a series of Educational Boat Trips since 2022. This initiative aims to increase public awareness of Malta’s marine environment, promote environmental responsibility, and encourage the protection of marine ecosystems, particularly through reducing littering and supporting conservation efforts.
The program consists of guided boat trips each year, taking place within Malta’s Marine Protected Areas around the Maltese Islands. Destinations include ecologically significant sites such as Comino, Gozo, Filfla, and other important coastal and offshore areas. These locations highlight the diversity and ecological importance of Mediterranean marine habitats, including a wide range of flora and fauna.
Each trip is designed to be educational and engaging, offering participants insights into marine biodiversity and the conservation measures being implemented to protect these sensitive environments. The boat trips help foster a deeper appreciation of Malta’s surrounding seas and the need for their long-term protection.
The boat trips are free of charge, family friendly and open to the public, with each trip accommodating over 50 participants. This inclusive approach ensures broad public participation while promoting environmental education in an accessible and enjoyable outdoor setting.
Education Walking Tours
Ambjent Malta’s educational walking trails offer a unique way to explore the island’s natural beauty and biodiversity, particularly within Natura 2000 sites. These include popular routes like the Comino Trail, featuring coastal views and rich habitats that attract wildlife and birdlife.
Each walk is led by a scientific officer from Ambjent Malta, who provides information along the route, explaining the local flora and fauna, geological features, and the ecological importance of each site.
These free of charge family friendly activities offer participants an accessible and educational outdoor experience that helps strengthen public understanding and appreciation of Malta’s natural landscapes.
Moreover, these trails promote sustainable tourism, environmental education, and well-being for all fitness levels while connecting people with nature in meaningful ways.
