Buskett Educational Hub

The Buskett Educational Hub, which has been open since July 2023, mainly aims to provide environmental education, particularly regarding Buskett and its importance. As a team, we offer half-day educational experiences at Buskett for primary and secondary schools, as well as for various organisations and active ageing centres.

We begin with a presentation about the role of Ambjent Malta, focusing on various environmental principles such as what is sustainability, the positive and negative impacts humans have on the environment, and much more.

This is followed by an informative walk around Buskett, during which participants learn about the seasonal flora and fauna, as well as the general history of the area. The experience also includes the planting of seasonal flower seeds or indigenous trees in biodegradable pots, which participants may take with them. We also organise activities that bring students together with elderly persons in order to encourage intergenerational communication and to learn how both the surrounding environment and Buskett itself have changed over time.

These activities, which may vary according to the season and target group, help foster environmental responsibility among every group and individual who visits us. Participants are encouraged to apply what they learn at the hub in their everyday lives — for example, understanding how and why we should protect this woodland, which forms part of the Natura 2000 network and other natural environments.
