Afforestation

Afforestation

Ambjent Malta spearheads the government’s afforestation, habitat restoration, and green infrastructure efforts. The department plants tens of thousands of indigenous trees and shrubs annually across the islands, focusing on key sites such as Majjistral Nature Park, Comino, L-Aħrax ta’ Ġewwa, and Il-Miżieb.

To ensure successful growth and long-term sustainability, Ambjent Malta pairs all major planting campaigns with installed irrigation systems and multi-year monitoring.

The AFM Afforestation Project

Ambjent Malta has undergone a large-scale afforestation project at the Safi AFM barracks, significantly enhancing Malta’s natural capital. This initiative involved planting a diverse range of over 4000 native trees and shrubs, contributing to the overall amelioration of the environment. By increasing green spaces, Ambjent Malta is fostering biodiversity, improving air quality, and providing a healthier ecosystem for future generations. This project underscores our commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship in Malta.
